In 2024, I worked with the Long Island Children’s Museum to visually interpret their written Land Acknowledgement statement. In this work, I focused on four different time periods throughout the history of the land Long Island Children’s Museum sits upon. These periods are pre-colonization, colonization, current day and the future. I gathered input for these panels through LICM’s Stories from the Land Festival in the summer of 2023. The outdoor panels for the Museum’s “Our Backyard” exhibit, reflects on the engagement between people and nature and how we are all connected through nature.

This project is the next step in LICM’s commitment to building and strengthening relationships with local indigenous communities. These works encourage you to consider how you care for the land and what impact you make on the world around you.
